Gandhvedh®
- Gandhvedh® is an IoT based electronic device that monitors Odour, Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC), Temperature and Humidity.
- Gandhvedh® detects unpleasant odour emanating from toilets pre-dominantly due to human urine and faeces. People usually avoid using toilets due to unpleasant odour emanating from it. Our product helps users to identify toilets that carry unpleasant smell.
- Through its unique dashboard, chart views and mobile alerts, Gandhvedh® provides information to Community based organizations, NGOs and Government about the condition of toilets they are maintaining.

Gandhvedh® Monitors
Ammonia and hydrogen sulfide is the most significant odour generated in toilets and constant exposure to them will cause headache, irritation to eyes & nose and unpleasant feeling.
Total Volatile Organic Compounds can be found in paints and thinners, air fresheners, repellents. Exposure to TVOCs may cause irritation of eyes, nose and throat, fatigue, dizziness, cancer.
Temperature is one of the basic parameters characterizing comfort of living beings. Wide variations in temperature have consequences on health.
Humans are sensitive to humid air because human body uses evaporative cooling as the primary mechanism to regulate temperature. For some people higher humidity can result in breathing problems, numbness, and faintness.

Toilet Tracker & Toilet Feedback Rating
Toilet Tracker & Toilet Feedback Rating
- Out of the 11 crore public toilets in India, most hardly get used.
- This is because the person intending to use it is unaware about its location. Even when a person happens to come across a public toilet there is a high probability that he/she doesn’t use it due to hygiene concerns.
- Toilet Tracker solves the two issues by providing the user with an application that points out the location and the hygiene index of public toilets in the area.
- This will benefit most citizens who intend to use public toilets.

Problem
- The Government of India launched the Swachh Bharat Mission with the intent that India should become Open defecation free (ODF). However even after five years of its launch and execution, we find India has still not become ODF. Though we have established four walls of the toilet, yet people tend to go in open and this is a severe threat to public health and hygiene.
- In Mumbai, the slum population is 41%, i.e. over 9 million people stay in slums. The toilets are taken care by both pay and use (public toilets) and Community Based Organisations (CBO). Community-based Organisation is a community partnership model, where few members of the community take the ownership to maintain the toilets. However these toilets still have the issue of sanitation and odour.
- A good or bad smell is one of first things that people notice when entering toilets. Foul smell emanating from toilets is a major deterrent to end-users. The problem is identifying and tracking malodour from these toilets on a continual basis.

Offered Solution
- Viliso Technology is a technology-driven company in the field of IoT. Viliso has provided them a solution to measure odour intensity in toilets on a continuous basis. The solution involves an electronic device known as Gandhvedh® and Mobile & Web application. The device requires internet connection and monitors the odour level and transmits the data to mobile & web app through cloud server. The device is fitted in the toilet where the odour monitoring is required. The device then sends the odour data to mobile app & web app which are used by the caretaker or monitoring authority responsible for sanitation of the toilet. Mobile app and web app both have facility to display the data of Odour, Temperature, Humidity and TVOC. The app also allows the users to view historical data in Hourly, Daily, Weekly and Monthly Graphical display format. Instant alerts are generated on mobile app, if any of the parameters cross the given threshold values. In this case timely alerts to both CBO and Caretakers has prompted appropriate action by the caretaker to keep the toilets clean and odour free. Alert based system helped them focus on the specific issue in time and reduced their dependence on direct feedback from users. The mobile app / web app user has option to set the alert level values.
