Mumbai was most polluted in October this year: Maharashtra pollution control board

MUMBAI: The city was this year most polluted in October, according to Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. Mumbai’s October air quality index (AQI) of 149 was also the worst among nine locations MPCB monitored.

MPCB on Monday uploaded a month-wise AQI average data of 20 locations for 2019 and 2020. An AQI of 101-200 is considered moderate and does not pose a health risk to general public. Thane and Domibvli breached the 200-mark. But MPCB collected data at only nine locations in October and November, as opposed to 20 normally. Cleanest air was recorded in Nashik, with an AQI of 29 in June 2020.
